The Siege of Malta Commemorative Lunch is a formal gathering held in honour of the courage, faith and steadfast resolve demonstrated by the Knights of St John during the Great Siege of 1565.
In that defining chapter of our history, the forces of the Order of Saint John, under the leadership of Grand Master Jean de Valette, defended the island of Malta against overwhelming opposition. Their sacrifice and determination not only secured the island but strengthened the Christian presence in the Mediterranean and shaped the future of the Order.
This commemorative luncheon provides Members, family and invited guests with an opportunity to reflect upon this historic event, to renew our commitment to the ideals of Christian charity and chivalric service, and to enjoy fellowship in a spirit befitting the traditions of the Order.
The function is conducted with appropriate dignity and ceremonial observance, including a brief historical address and a toast in remembrance of those who served with honour. It stands as a reminder that the values demonstrated in 1565 — courage, unity and service — continue to guide our work today.
